<But why build a mall down the road to close one???> This is a very usual thing that happens wherever there is a lot of land, Alexander, and a consumer society which wants new, new, newer all the time! It would be much more pleasing to maintain the buildings we have, and use additional land for other uses, or just leave it all lovely and natural. In Europe, where land is scarcer, one of the most charming things is buildings that are several hundred years old, still being used as houses and businesses.
