No need. First crumpled up newspapers. A little card board. Some kindling then scraps from the workshop ( they pop so close the screen). Then your logs, split of course and aged. Takes about an hour to get a good ember bed going but that is the secret, a good ember bed. Stays hot and ignites the new wood. Oh and a bellows pump helps.
