Man oh man. Any options, especially LEAPs, on the Q are way out of line in terms of premium. I'd buy the stock. LEAPs need to be purchased before runs like this OR during MAJOR corrections (like the one we had the day BEFORE earnings came out in March).

From my perspective, buying options now is much to risky.

Good Luck

LEAPS...absolutely wonderful...so you have posts that disagree with each other as always.
I dont know the science of figuring out which option is the best buy for your money..ask Jerry Miller.
But I do know that looking at the list on CBOE or other sites and seeing where the most open interest is is a good start.
Deciding where you believe the stock will be a year or two years from now is another good starting point.
I bought ZQIAH, Q 340 for Jan 01 on November 12th, at 108 3/8, its around 130 now I think but went down to 99 in the meantime. I bought ZQIAD Q 320 for Jan 01 at 97 1/4 on Nov 2, and more at 118:it last traded at 124 but is bid 137 1/2 but went down to 103 along the way.
I bought WIJAD Q '02 320 for 151 on NOv 12 it's at 168 but went down to 126 along the way.
Its better to buy options when the stock corrects which means keeping a watch from time to time every day because it corrects often and then goes right back up because the lower price WASNT "correct" (apparently).
But if you think about a 340 becoming an 85 after the split and a buyin price of 108 becoming 27 you can see that there is still plenty of upside if you expect the Q to get to 100 immediately after the split and 125 soon after, with 200 in the next few months or so.
AS always you must make up your own mind, and have faith through the downturns...or sell soon as you have a 25% or higher profit (it doesnt take long) and keep the money to buy back in at the next correction. Take your pick, I've tried both strategies, they both work but the second is more frantic.

AND remember, even LEAPs on QCOM are not risk free. There is a potential of losing every dime if the market takes a tumble...every DIME.
