Because of VIX considerations, as in the case of Q*, I bought deep-in-the money calls or LEAPS which entail a relatively smaller time premium. This way I would also dare to place bigger bets, and the leverage in DITM calls is still quite good - about 3x - the way I played it.

Currently own:

AAWAT (Jan100c, bought at $67 in September when analyst at E.G. Edwards falsely predicted Q*'s earnings shortfall; currently worth $285)

AAWAL (Jan160c, bought at $42 on October 16 when market sold off seasonably; currently worth 225)

ZQIAT (Jan01 300c, bought at $110 about three weeks ago when Q* retraced to $329; currently worth $149).

Hope the above is of some use.
