Chris, I am thoroughly confused now so it must have helped.
<vbzg> ( that's a zombie grin)

Thank you. That was very much to the point.

There's no getting around it - the possibilities are extraordinary due to the enormous size of the possible markets involved. The only problem would kick in if the price zoomed in anticipation of a deal that came to nothing again.

So I am glad Ampex is playing it close to the vest. If this deal falls through, a similar one may soon arise. Sooner or later there may be quite a bit of actual cash flow in this or something similar to it.

Thanks again, Chris.

If you don't mind me asking Chris, how do you know that stuff? You talk the same language as Gus.

HI!
Credit Card Readers (ccrs) currently in use on Point of Sale Terminals (POS also known as cash registers) are extremely low cost devices - when compared to the cost of the rest of the terminal.
It really wouldn't be a great increase in the cost of the whole POS for the users if the ccr was upgraded to handle "keepered" cards...on a per terminal basis.
However, when you multiply the total cost increase per terminal by the tremendous number of POS terminals across a large national store chain (a WalMart Super Store, for instance will have up to 60 POS terminals), the cost becomes significant, and some initial resistance can be expected from retailers to upgrade.
Once one large national chain, however, embraces the new technology, you can expect to see a flood of installations across the whole retail industry.
The biggest boost for the retailer, undoubtedly, will be to have the "photograph" of the valid holder/user of the card instantly available. One of the "hot buttons" with large national chains is credit card fraud, and losses due to "chargebacks" from correction of such fraudulent uses.
This can, and should, be a BIG moneymaker for Ampex!! The potential for income from this is, well, simply staggering.
Good luck to us all in the market!!
