I agree with you with regard to Intel as a company, has been by far superior to AMD. I think it is unlikely for that to change substantially going forward.

I was challenging your assertion that Athlon was not a good CPU, I think we somewhat have come to an agreement there.

On the other hand, I do not really care what INTC has done over the past 10 years because I do not have a time machine to go back. I care about what the stock has done since I have owned it and more importantly what it will do going forward.

As far as your sports analogy, check out what has happened to the mighty 49ers after almost 2 decades of domination. I am not saying AMD will do to Intel what Rams has done to the 49ers this year, but assuming the pattern of the past will surely repeat themselves, when there are signs to the contrary, you are setting yourselves up for a disappointment.
