o Seems like another good week For AMD.
o With Athlons, AMD positioned itself very well in the high end systems.
o K6-2/475 is the lowest speed grade advertised.
o It seems Best Buy is having a Compaq - AMD special this
week (9 AMD vs 2 Intel ads).

Observations:
The bottom feeder stuff (400 and below) is mostly Intel. I suppose that most of the 700 and above stuff from Intel could be going to Dell and Gateway, but there sure does seem to be less of it available than the Athlon 700. Remember that Intel needs about $5 Billion in CPU sales to meet stockholder expectations and justify its current valuation. AMD needs about $500 Million to justify its current market valuation. About 3/4 of the market isn't retail sales, includes much of the high end demand, and most of that is going to Intel.

Regards,

Dan
