100, I do not believe that the JDS/UNPH merger allowed them to build a new product. What it did is give JDSU the ability to sell almost all of the components that their customers need. Thus they created a complete photonics product line and ramped up production to fill the demand.

Others, I am told, can supply all of the products that JDSU does, but no other can supply the breadth of product or the quantities that JDSU does.
