Re: Athlon cheaper than P-III.. If you include the fact that the Athlon needs a $15 more expensive power supply and/or case, as well as a more expensive motherboard, the prices of parts at 500,550, and 600 MHZ are pretty much at parity. It is only at 650 and higher that the Athlon is any less expensive than the PIII. Once Intel's production lines are up to speed (January?) the 650 to 750MHZ parts should also be at parity - but by then KX133 and AMD shiner based motherboards should be out cutting $30 from the cost of Athlon motherboards, and the .18 Athlons at 550 to 650 won't need 300 watt power supplies, cutting that $15 cost for those parts as well.
