IMO, the only mobile wireless competition to MCOM in the near future is HDR. There are lots of other fixed wireless microwave systems like LMDS, but HDR is the one to watch out for. I still want to find out how they will offer always on service for $40/month though. I would think that they would either use additional bandwidth, or take away from available voice bandwidth, either of which would have a high cost. In the meantime, MCOM is the best mobile wireless data service around.
