I found a demo of a java app on the web awhile back that operated on a hypertext to create a view of the text that employed font size, color and shading, and position to create the effect of moving within a 3D text space. As you clicked on text it became more readable and related text rearranged itself spatially in 3D ... astounding experience ... I can't find it now. Maybe you know of it.
