IMO you are right but the following makes me think?????...

AT&T makes a deal with Mindspring ( maybe just to appease regulators )... But Mindspring is clearly the # 2 service provider behind AOL... AOL will not let Mindspring eat away at the ever expanding growth in internet access...

The following is from the Wall Street Journal July 1, 1999 Digits column... to paraphrase here...

SECOND TIME AROUND: Back in 1993, billionaire Paul Allen tried to buy a controlling stake in AOL...but didn't work out...but now people close to the situation say Mr. Allens's rep. Bill Savoy visited Mr. Case and others at AOL's headquarters in Virginia recently. Why? AOL wants to offer high speed access using cable lines among other means. AOL has had a rocky road with AT&T...AOL is trying to forge relationships with other cable empires. Neither Mr. Allen nor AOL's Mr. Case would comment.

Remember this article was from July...it has been almost a half year...If something like this would happen it could be anytime...

Best to ALL!
