Yet I've been reading that this is really a stealth bear market because the indexes are being led up by a relatively small number companies in one--the high tech--sector. In fact, the Chicago Tribune reported last week that the average stock had fallen 7% during the last 20 months. I guess your short weighted strategy emphasizing POS's might make you market neutral. Given what I and others perceive as a stunning market bifurcation in performance between the relatively few haves and the many have nots, I'm not sure what should be expected of your returns based on your strategy the current market environment; but they look pretty damn good to me. Do you fare equally well in bull markets as in bear markets? I've been investing for ten years and have built up an increasingly substantial portfolio. My own return since August has 50% but that is entirely on the long side. All I've learned how to do the last decade is to profit from taking long positions. I'm a one trick pony so to speak and know that I could significantly enhance my performance by learning the art of short selling, especially your way with a focus on POS's--low risk shorting. (I also need to learn about using options.) I look to you as one of my instructors/guides. Sometimes I'm a little unclear about what factors you're focusing on when you choose a stock to target as a short because you comments about the motivation for your positions can be brief; but I'm learning so much from studying your moves. I guess this is what you intended, in part, by creating this thread.

Best Wishes,
Puck

Steve,
I am usually involved in the same shorts you are but still cant beleive the returns you are acheiving. I applaud the manner in which you are showing the world proof positive that you can make incredible returns on the short side in the face of a crazy market. In fact, without such a crazy market, it would be difficult to acheive such fantastic results. Congrats and keep up the good work!
Rob
P.S. Remember 20% plus 2% asset management fee ;-)

SSPE is up 44% today after TJ started recommending it to his disciples. What would be your opinion about shorting it?
