your point is quite important. BRCD 's interest would definitely have been to win the SUNW contract. It would have created a lot of delays for ancr's takeoff and really increased BRCD's market share. Also I do not believe that the SUNW shares will be put on the market anytime too soon. It will dilute ownership and earnings eventually, but I doubt that it will add to the actual trading float. How many can believe that a company with the ambition of SUNW would choose a crucial component only on the basis of price. Was it a good deal for SUNW ? No doubt about it, but ONLY if it helps them market their systems, they have too much at stake: servers, storage etc. The fact that they were so capable at making this deal is just a good reason for owning some SUNW shares too. Well, I agree , this thread has analyzed this factor ad infinitum. I am curious if this point comes up at this N.Y. conference. I have decided to attend.............if there are any specifics that members of this board want me to pay special attention to ( or try to find out) please let me know, and I will report to this thread. After all it's my turn to try to contribute something to this board that has offered so much ! Sorry for not including your name in my first post Dr. Technocrat, my list was most incomplete ! I am very intrigued at the fact that ANCR will be presenting with Veritas. VRTS seems to be another company that would not gamble on an inferior product. P.S. do you remember that time magazine cover with Fiona (?) Helmsey's picture and the title " What rhymes with rich ? " I hope this time the answer is " SWITCH" !!!
