Online music in Japan is already getting to be a crowded field. Add ventures supported by Trans Cosmos into the mix.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony dominate - strong franchise, a strong lock on quality artists, strong technology (for deploying e-commerce initiatives, portable music devices, and digital security). Maybe not for the last one, it's a holy grail far over the horizon to effectively provide encryption that cannot be bypassed yet is also not cumbersome to end users.

I've long been excited by the fact that Softbank pumped money into the likes of Reciprocal, Digimarc, and Intertrust. The company that will end up saving digital music (and the world of intellectual property in general) in the name of security will not be Liquid Audio, despite conventional wisdom.
