Pak serial killer continues to elude police Lahore, Dec 5 The serial killer of more than a 100 street children, who has caused an outrage in Pakistan, continued to elude the police even as the authorities announced a reward of Rs ten lakh and arrested his wife and daughter today in the hope of a breakthrough. Javed Iqbal, a chemical engineer, sent waves of fear across the country with his admission that he had sodomised and killed young children and disposed of their bodies in barrels of concentrated acid. He then disappeared with the threat that he would commit suicide in the Ravi river which flows through the city. Parents of missing children continued to flock the Ravi Road police station where the number of children identified by their photographs and belongings rose to more than 65 even as a forensic examintion revealed presence of human fat and hair in the barrels of acid recovered from Iqbal s house. The chemical examiners report said the barrels contained a deadly mixture of concentrated Sulphuric and Hydrochloric acid, powerful enough to dissolve human flesh and bones in a few minutes. Police arrested Iqbal s wife Nazli and daughter Mehwish claiming both of them were in contact with him and could lead to his arrest. Another accomplice Sabir, whose name figured in the note that Iqbal sent to the city police chief, was also arrested. The Lahore range DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal and SSP Saud Aziz interrogated those arrested in connection with the mass killings at CIA headquarters. In light of the information provided by the arrested people, it is hoped that the psychopath will be arrested within the next few days, police claimed. Police said that 11 of the 14 acid barrels contained human remains. During the chemical examination, human bones and teeth were thrown into the solution which dissolved immediately. Human hair took quite some time to dissolve, the chemical report said. Meanwhile, the Muzaffargarh police yesterday arrested a man who had allegedly murdered three boys, aged between 12 and 14, aftersexual assault. Police claimed to have recovered from the possession of Israrah nude photographs of over two dozen boys whom he had allegedly molested. Israr, police said, used the pictures to blackmail the victims and their families. news.satyamonline.com
