Ron, if that is what is meant, I think that refers to the spacing of DWDM wavelengths in the two bands (1310 and 1550 GHz I think).

Think of it sort of like line widths on a microchip or lane widths on a freeway. The narrower the spacing, the more channels they can squeeze into the band. The channels are 100GHz apart now, but I think I read that efforts to move to 50GHz spacings or even 25GHz spacings are being worked on.

If, that is, what Frank is talking about. I'm certainly no scientist, just a reasonable well read investor.
