1. I'm presuming that #1 is the one actually hooked up to the network and that #2 is connected via #1? *True, #1 is hooked/connected to Internet. #2 is connected to #1 via Network Crossover cable. 2. Can you tell me what this means and if Sygate will configure the 2 computers for me?. You can have a different WEB page opened on either computer. Sygate or Win98 Wizard will lead you thru' setup. You will have to do some of the changes. 4. Probably find one locally. Get a 10 or 15 foot. Better to have too long if computers are separated. I would discourage trying to make one. 5. What is the difference between what you are doing with the crossover cable versus using a hub/router? With a crossOver cable you can connect two computers. A HUB/SWITCH would be required to connect three or more computers. Cheaper for sure but is there an advantage in using a hub with only two computers? There is no advantage in cable or HUB other than HUB is more expensive and not needed with two computers. However you can use the HUB. Later you may add third computer, already have the **HUB.
