Excerpt from SSB research on EGRP and TBFC merger

"Telebanc offers high interest rate yield bank accounts, but that's about
it. Most of its other products and services are outsourced to partners
such as E-LOAN (mortgages) and Answer Financial (insurance). Telebanc
even outsources its Internet banking platform to a third party vendor.
While Telebanc may be able to stay in the game for a while with this
strategy, we believe that ultimately if it did not combine with an entity
like EGRP that it would have to invest significant resources in
developing new products and services. EGRP offers Telebanc a
state-of-the art technology platform that considerably accelerates its
ability to innovate..."

I was getting ready to make an investment in TBFC this morning because of the large spread, and figuring TBFC would be okay on its own even if the merger fails, but this gives me some pause...
