Hi Eric,

I see that you and Jay, then, are in agreement on the potential for auctioning off bandwidth in the last mile:

"Will there be enough total bandwidth? Only at a price, and maybe never enough to support bidirectional applications. The MSO's if they have any smarts will sell the bandwidth to the highest bidder. Someone may even buy a channel purely for the purpose of reselling it in pieces to small ISPs."

The issue concerning coordinating upstream slots is formidable enough for "one" provider's needs, if demand escalates to the point where that is necessary, and it will. Consider the implications of coordinating QoS and channel capacity "splits", on the fly, for "multiple" operators.

Stay tuned to Ebay for further details.
