Not quite. That chart is heavily influenced by the relative value of the Yen. And the BOJ is printing yen almost as fast as Greenspan is printing dollars via coupon passes and Y2K option insurance for member banks.

It's a race to mutual currency destruction. Who do you think will "win"? And what happens when one side wins? Do they celebrate?

Greenspan: "Hah! The dollar is now worthless!"
BOJ: "No, the yen is even more worthless!"

Greenspan: "But our recession is bigger than yours!"
