And further to that SCOTIA does not allow market stop loss orders - Their orders are stop limit orders. You set the stop price and you must also stipulate a limit - Ie: JDX stop loss at 1.09 limit of 1.06. What that means is that when the first trade below 1.10 occurs you order is activated and it is a sell order at 1.06 which will hit the first bid. The rtisk of too tight a limit is that there are no bids in between 1.05 and 1.09 and the price keep sgoing down and you are not filled. BUT it also avoids you hitting the next bid which may be .50 cents in a thinly bid market depth.
