Something very positive is going on regarding NTAP. Right now it is up 17 1/4 at 154. Before making this posting I checked for news here, at Yahoo!, and at MLs web site. Nothing.

This is an awfully big jump on no news.

Thanks for the update on NTAP. I have followed FC, GE, and EMC for some time. I must be confused about 10Gbps GE though. I notice that a number of posters here and on other threads discuss this technology as though it is imminent. My read is that the standard is still 1 (actually 1.25GBps) and I also have no data on the percentage of LANs running GE as opposed to ethernet or fast ethernet (switched and unswitched). I think these are all important facts if you base your decisions about a logical storage strategy on a hypothetical system. I know that with FC they are moving cautiously to 2Gbps adapters and switches first. What about GE? How fast will they increase the throughput - keeping in mind it has to be backward compatible with current GE systems? Here are the current standards:
