If you were Bezos, and wanted to cover your ass in advance of the shareholder lawsuits that would surely follow any devestating collapse of the stock, what do you think you'd say?

Yes - this is true - but his attitude has always been a bit arrogant. And he's never told us when the company will be profitable. Has he?

I don't believe he said that they are spending frivolously to avoid profits.

These are your words.

It's amazing - even many of the Amazon bulls on this thread have been discouraged by the lack of prudence in many of Bezos's public statements. You don't seem to mind.
