RS: As one of the last diehard optimists, I will put my two cents in. I take the approach that while the silence is not desirable as far as most on this tread are concerned, it is at least understandable. Let's not forget that G* is a wholesaler. The SP's are the retailers. I dont care to get into specific instances but retailers tend to be a tight lipped bunch. When was the last time you saw a big retailer promise a wholesalers product a year before delivery? In my experience, you are lucky to know anything weeks (days?) before the product is in the store and on the shelves. I have followed several telecom retailers in particular and they have never run the flag up the pole until after assembly had been blown and the troops were assembled. They are not in the habit of promising anything before it has been set up and they are able to deliver. Perhaps this is unique to me, but I dont mind the fact that they are not splashing G* all over the advertising spaces. A little wetting of the appetite is fine. (and ongoing) I take the position that the SPs have for some time, planned for a post Y2K system start. They are continuing on that pace. Sure it would be nice to have flashy up-to-date webpages. We on SI are some of the most web savy individuals there are, but we are not well represented as a breed in the SP policy making upper crust. IMO, it is understandable that they are not singing to our tune. Like it? No, not really. Think they could do things differently and better? You betcha. Fed up enough to call it quits? Not yet.
