IMHO, Intel is smart enough to accomplish its goals by FUD and subtle remarks with vendors without doing something overtly anticompetitive (unlike the less government savvy Mircosoft)

I agree and I think in Intel's settlement with the FTC they agreed not to withold products or advance information from customers except under conditions like the Intergraph case where they were being sued. Another interesting case was the DEC lawsuit. In their suit DEC simultaneously demanded that Intel stop producing processors and that Intel continue supplying DEC with processors. A very odd paradox.
