>As I understand it, QCOM maintains about 20 to 25% of its work force as temps. Thus eliminating the need to pay those folks benefits, leaving every one of them with an insecure future. QCOM never hesitates to lay them off without a moment's notice. So, I never hesitate shorting this beast...short above 400. <

Yes, Q does hire a lot of temps. So do a lot of other companies. As for laying them off without a moments notice, this is not true. They do get notice. As for the "insecure future", thus is the life of a temp. That is part of the 'game'. If the temps don't like it, they have the choice to not be one.

I fail to see the correlation between having temps, and shorting the stock, unless one has another agenda. Be careful.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I have anything against temps, but, if they are upset, then it is their own problem, not Q's.

Just my two cents.

LG! A Short Is A Short! Is A Short! Nothing wrong with that but surely you could come up with something better than part time employees that do not get benefits. I would mark this up as smart management.

Questions:

1. Is This a Joke
2. Have you been effected by something you saw on TV
3. How many drinks have you had
4. Have you just escaped from a Internet "Boiler room"
5. Have you ever hired parttime help and not given them
benefits. Why?
6. Do you ever say things you wish you never said.
7. Did QCOM hire a lot of partime employees today or when did you come up with this? Did they have them when the stock was at 200?

I have a friend that works for QCOM and she speaks as though there is no better company. If they are parttime they can say that they worked for QCOM and get a better full time job next time......

strong buy signal registered once again

<"I never hesitate shorting this beast...short above 400" LG>

very reliable contrary signal from past experience

citing temp workers is like citing attractiveness of company logo
.. or length of executive secretary legs
.. or weather in city where headquarters is located
.. or the color of their cafeteria walls

jeesh, guys like this make me salivate
you fail to grasp the revolutionary on consistent basis
plan to become roadkill, rookie!!!

check the chart and tell me about that bullish inverted triangle staring at you

arbitrary ceiling at 395
uptrend strong
classic confrontation: uptrend versus ceiling
strong news coming in multiple sequence

You may not approve of Qualcomm's treatment of some of its employees as independent contractors rather than employees, but I would suggest that you not let your societal prejudices affect your investment strategy. First of all, many successful companies use independent contractors and/or outsourcing. There is nothing wrong with that. Second, for years Microsoft has called many of its workers independent contractors. While they were recently sued for the practice, I certainly would not have wanted to be short the stock for the several years they were doing it.

Edit: Now that I have read all the posts between LG's and mine, I see that most others on this thread agree that LG is off base with regard to ANALysis.
