OT--Jill, I just learned that tidbit this summer touring an old Georgia homestead. I had heard it all my life, too, and believed that the grammar was incorrect. Not so--the grammar is correct "The Creek don't rise."

I finally had an excuse to share that bit of useless info and could not resist.
