Dear Alok: I'm starting to wonder if "the millennium" issue will be a factor to take into account for stocks such as SUNW, EMC, CSCO, QCOM, etc. etc. for the rest of this month. By this I do _not_ mean issues involving concern over Y2K. Rather, its the idea of "my portfolio entering the 21st century," a greater psychological than real milestone, quite different from the normal change from one year to the next. Sort of the, "Bye buy shares of Bethlehem Steel, hello SUNW," factor.

As 2000 approaches, I think a psychological factor is going to keep SUNW and other attractive stocks for the new millennium moving up. The lists of stocks coming out, ones that talk about the best 10 or 12 stocks to hold for the next year (or 10)? Well, SUNW is on them. Its an excellent stock for individuals (and mutual fund managers) who want their portfolios in line with the 21st century.

Waiting for a pullback myself before I jump on this train, I noticed it dropped 22 points from 4/9/99 to 4/19/99 after the last split. Maybe it won't drop that much but I do expect at least a 10 point or more drop within a few weeks and with Y2K around the corner it may drop 20 points.

Dear Alok: I too have been thinking of that same stratagy but then I have to ask myself, IF this stock drops EVEN 30 PTS do I want to dispose of it? When I look to the future I think to myself, why wouldnt I want to hold this stock so I have done nothing. Its on so many recommended lists that it seems silly to pay uncle Sam a HUGE capital gains tax and then either have to buy it back or look for something equally as good. JDN
