IMO, "communism" is a big lie told to a large group of people with little to lose, so that a new group of people may come to power and punish evil rich bastards.

The system is perpetuated by evil rich bastards clever enough to eschew ostentation and ruthless enough to shoot all enemies of "the people," i.e., those who take notice of what is really happening.

As an economic model, it's not very successful outside of convents, monasterries and other small, special interest communities.

I agree with the X Woman in thinking the U.S. has become more socialistic than most care to acknowledge.

I think the X Woman and others may enjoy "Under the Frog" by Tibor Fischer. ".....He takes a serious subject, Hungary from 1944 to 1956, and is seriously funny about it. Glorious!"
