Alias, <is there a "latest" target date from management as to full deployment of the satellites and full/partial service implementation? > The system is proceeding according to plan, so service will be initiated in the third quarter of 1999, with a 'hard' launch 15 November 1999 when real customers will start signing up, with rollout of service around the world continuing throughout the last quarter of 1999 with gap filling in the last year of the second millennium. The first month of the first year of the new millennium will see fairly comprehensive continental coverage.

At the moment, service providers are being checked for vital signs. Some are alive, but little movement is present.
