Robt -- CNBC just did a report on Nokia and their cellular growth, but I didn't catch the stats. Looking at WSJ, I find a couple articles, but not what I really want. A couple stop-gaps (among a pile of analyst upgrades: December 6, 1999 Dow Jones Newswires Lehman Raises Nokia's FY00 EPS Forecast After Meet LONDON -- Lehman raises Nokia's (NOK) earnings per share forecast for 2000 to EUR2.63 from EUR2.52 after highly positive analyst meeting in Dallas. Lehman says Nokia raises revenue growth forecast for fiscal 2000 to 30%-40% from 25%-30% and now anticipates one billion subscribers by year-end 2002 instead of end 2003. The stock is experiencing robust near-term momentum in the holiday season Lehman says and reiterates its buy recommendation. The preliminary Bank of New York ADR Index rose 1.79, or 1.18%, to 153.82, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 61.17, or 0.5%, to 11225.01. Indices across the globe hit minor milestones in what was generally optimistic trading Monday. However, jitters in London ahead of the Bank of England policy meeting this week sent the FTSE downward from the new intraday high it hit earlier in the day. The FTSE 100 closed at 6694, down 48.2, or 0.7%, at 6694.0, after briefly reaching 6774.7. German shares continued their nearly unbroken stretch of gains, lifting the Xetra DAX index to a close near its 1999 high and about 100 points off its all-time high set in July 1998. Bellwether stocks Siemens, SAP and Mannesmann led the charge as the Xetra DAX ended up 23.02, or 0.4%, at 6142.19. Cap Gemini led the way as French stocks closed up 41.92, or 0.8%, at 5509.97. Cap Gemini shares rose 12% after the French company said it is in talks with New York-based Ernst & Young about combining the two firms' consulting and information technology services. Bolstered by strong buying in laggard stocks and gains on Wall Street, Hong Kong's benchmark share index closed at its highest level since Aug. 14, 1997. The Hang Seng Index closed up 328.21, or 2.1%, at 16168.62, which was also its intraday peak. Anticipation of a merger between Vodafone Airtouch PLC and Mannesmann AG combined with several positive analyst comments about Nokia Corp. sent cellular phone ADRs up, said Tat Auyeung, head trader with HSBC Holdings PLC. Vodafone shares closed at 53, up 3 1/2, or 7.1%, on roughly average volume. "People seem to be confident that the deal is going to go through with Mannesmann," Auyeung said. Meanwhile, an analyst meeting in Dallas set Wall Street abuzz over Nokia. J.P. Morgan and Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown reiterated their strong buy ratings on Nokia, while Morgan Stanley raised its price target. Lehman Brothers raised its earnings estimate for fiscal 2000.
