Definitely not. I think Dan is in a later twilight than Elway was.

"So, isn't it AMD's turn to go through the 0.18 and on chip L2 learning curves now? Also, I hear from MY sources that copper's a bitch. Might as well have my sources, practically everyone else does.

Whatsamatter, don't you think Marino's capable of getting the ring for his team in the twilight of his career like Elway did (2)? Admittedly, Dan's underpinnings are nowhere near what John's were."...

From what I understand part of the .25u Athlon was on .18u so AMD has been phasing .18u in for a while now. The scalability of the Athlon will make it a lot easier to transition as well. 750 is pretty much the bottom of the barrel for AMDs .18u Athlon. OTOH, Intel had to pretty much lay the whole scale of the coppermine on it's release just to top the 700MHZ Athlon on .25u. I don't know about copper but it follows that new process technogies are darn hard to impliment at any rate. The FAB 25 .18u Athlons are Aluminum. FAB 30 is supposed to be copper but if they have to they could still use Aluminum.
The biggest problem I see for Intel is not the ability to manufacture coppermines as Intel has always been the master of low costs, high volume production but the lack of a sensical chipset and motherboard platform for it at this time. Rather than cripple the i820 when SDRAM is used instead of RAMBUS they should have taken a more transtional approach. Now they have to scramble out the Solano...and hope RAMBUS doesn't get pidgeon holed...

OT...Marino...
Marinos problems have always been 2 fold.
1. He's not mobile and tends to hang on to the ball in the pocket too long. As a result he frequently gets hit and fumbles or throws a tipped pass. This results in about 7 points for the other team on average.
2. He forces the ball into coverage because he feels he can defy the odds with his powerful arm. He also has had a tendency to throuw the ball too hard, often deflected off his own players hands and intecepted. Probably good for another 7 for the oppostion.
So with Marino you're likely spotting the other team 7-14 points a game. Of course, often Marino has made up for this and more but in critical situations it's becoming more and more hard to overcome.
With Marinos inability to scramble it also takes a dimension away.
