I guess it depends on how fast the WAP and new miniature phones catch on. All these recent projections on Nokia's 2000 earnings seem like hoodoo to me. We find out how big the market for WAP phones really is around next summer - that's when the sales should shift from early adapters to mainstream customers. I'm not sure you can say much about the appeal of 7110 based on the fact that the first 100 000 units sold out immediately. OK - it's not rancid roadkill, unlike some reecent internet phone models I could name. But whether it can really become as popular as the 6100 series, that's just too early to call. Another questionmark is the 8850, which is now debuting at around 900 dollars. No doubt it will sell out initially as well - but will it keep selling at that price? Can it turn into a 5 million unit hit with this price tag? These upmarket moves have to pan out to keep the margins and the brand healthy. The 1Q 2000 is going to be a real nailbiter. Tero
