<<<What is it going to take to move up? >>
I see some problems in expecting a gross move in Dell.
Market has shown little response to Dells new efforts or statements
.
If MSD says something very positive, analysts will raise the bar
in February (The 21 cents which is IMO a bit high already)
So progress is reported by the company as "We are doing well,
sales growing at multiples the industry, making new partners etc)
Without giving the ^&**ed analysts an excuse to raise the bar.
Especially with the unknown Y2K effects which may occur in this
quarter.
One thing that could happen here is for Dell
to do something that would be accretive to earnings, such as
buy another company. Although it would seem unlikely.
I would hope for a smooth positive increment in Dells price
until the middle of Jan (market permitting) at which time the
company should have a good handle on what the full quarter
performance will be. They could then be 'comfortable' with estimate
or 'very positive' or preferably issue an 'excessive earnings'
warning.hehe.
Meanwhile are the lawyers done with the Y2K issue ??
They don't quit easy when money is involved so some allowance must be made for fending off possible suits against manufacturers.
