I'm sure that he thought in his wildest dreams there was no way that CMGI would even get close to $190 from the $100 level in two months.

Actually the covered call seller might still win the game, that can only be decided on Jan expiration day. Besides, he could be happy to double his money if he bought the underlying say at 90.

But the 0.25 / contract buyer certainly made a killing; although most likely, he already have cashed out earlier and move to longer time expiration. Maybe the guy will respond, it was indeed an interesting play and hoping to duplicate it in the future with some profit change of course. Good trading everyone.

Amein,
I believe the poster on this thread bought those calls. I think he bought 100 Jan 190's for around $2k. He made a comment about a big gamble, really paid off...wonder if he sold them all.
Interestingly, his post made me look at a similar trade at that time...
I tried to buy 20 Jan 150's @ ~$1 back then. My own $2,000 gamble. I tried for 2 days to get them, trying to squeeze and 1/8 out of the trader, but no luck. Now, I am kicking myself. Would have made $20k in 2 - 3 days. Notice I don't say "$70K", today's price, who would I be kidding, I couldn't keep holding after that first run. And thinking about it just makes me more sad...

ah well, I still got my $40 basis CMGI...life's not all bad.
