from Investor Relations. He actually returned my phone call. This is impressive in itself. Often you cant even speak to a
human being in IR at other companies.
Very little pertinent info came out of the phone call ( I did not expect anything concrete of course) but I figured I would
take anything.
We spoke of rumors that are floating out there and he of course could not comment on those rumors due to company
policy . He did mention that Lehman and Robert W Baird co. came out with reiterations of strong Buys on TLAB as a
result of the price Tanking.
I also asked about Mike Bircks comments about TLAB purchasing a smaller company (under a billion dollars). I asked
about whether the purchase is to be done before the end of the year and he said that he was not positive about when it
would be announced although he thought that it might be before the end of the year but that could also mean the beginning
of next year too.
One very important point is that Newbridge Networks (the company being rumored to be bought out) is a publicly held
company and TLAB's philosophy is to buy INDEPENDENT small start ups since the Ciena fiasco.
THis tells me that Newbridge Networks is NOT in the future of Tellabs.
Another thing that he mentioned is that TLAB stock price every so often will correct 20-25%. THis I know as does any
long term TLAB owner. It always comes back and hits new highs. Again, the volume is what spooks me. Maybe it is
momentum traders and computer programmed selling. (often computer based selling takes place when technicals are
violated ie volume or price violations. It works on the buy and the sell side)
Time will tell although it should be watched closely like all stocks and equities.

Good Luck Longs.
