DS: I'm transferring stock, not cash, from a regular to a Roth IRA so I guess we both misunderstood each other--but the end result is the same, moving 1/3 the shares of NTAP I want to shift to the Roth for '99 now and the others later.

I laughed to myself when I initially read your suggestion. It was like being a person interested in holding shares of QCOM who wants 100 shares but gags at QCOM's price. Then someone comes along and say's, "Hey, just buy 25 shares and you'll get your 100 after the split." The light switch gets turned on. The person buys the 25 shares.

You flicked on the light switch for me dealing moving the number of NTAP shares that get moved to the Roth for '99.

Regards,

Lynn
