I was trying to get to the bottom of the fact that QCOM has, over the last 30 days, declined as a portion of my portfolio. Here is the reason:

This is a problem that I like to have!

Frank,

Ahem (tm)! If you add your qcom common and qcom LEAPS together, can you still claim to be diversified?

It's a polite nod of yours to put the little "tm" thingy behind "Ahem," but don't think for a minute my attorneys won't be contacting you about those unpaid royalty fees. :)

Diversification is in the eye of the beholder, but yes, I'm diversified enough in my mind. As an example, there have been days that Qualcomm's progress, as robust as it usually is, has dragged down the performance of my portfolio.

To be specific about the diversification though, my combined Qualcomm position has grown from an initial investment of 17% to a current portion measured at 40%. I let my winners run. I won't have a problem with Qualcomm getting to 60% before I start thinking of locking in some profits and at the same time increasing my diversification. Until then, I'm doin' mighty fine.

I'll not bother discussing my other diversification strategies since portfolio allocation isn't the focus of this thread. So stop luring me into off-topic discussions about investing when the only off-topic discussions I usually perpetuate aren't about investing! :)
