DS: Oh, no, not at all. I was stating the questions I ask myself when looking at the stocks in my IRA. I was thinking out loud, not asking for help.

Nothing gets sold but since I view every dollar something goes up as "free" money once it gets moved [taxable at the shift price only], I'm suddenly a LTBH type playing the short term trader game with LT holdings.

Hummmmmm... the real solution would be to be the next million dollar winner on that TV program. After paying taxes on the winnings, I could shift my entire IRA to a Roth in one go and use winnings money to pay the tax.
