SCIMITAR HYDROCARBONS CORP ("SIY-V;SHYCF-L") - Drilling and Production Results - Issaran Field, Egypt Mr. Angus A. Mackenzie, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Scimitar Hydrocarbons Corporation is pleased to announce that Scimitar has completed the Issaran No. 10 well in the Issaran oilfield in Egypt as a significant oil producer. The well was drilled to a total depth of 2,185 feet in mid-November 1999 and subsequently cased, perforated and acidized in the Gharandal and Nukhul formations and flowed free oil on clean-up. The Issaran No. 10 well was placed on production December 4, 1999 and flowed oil at a rate of 700 barrels of oil per day (BOPD). Total production from the Issaran oilfield on December 4, 1999 from existing wells and the Issaran No. 10 well was 1,400 BOPD, up from an average of 700 BOPD in November 1999. Scimitar currently nets approximately Cdn$15.00 per barrel from its share of Issaran production after all deductions. Drilling of the Issaran No. 11 well, the second well in Scimitar's current development program was completed and the well was cased as a potential oil well on November 30, 1999. The Issaran No. 11 well will be perforated and tested in early December 1999. The third well in the program will be spudded in mid. January 2000.
