I'd be very surprised if the folks over in American Fire Alarm, Holmes, ADT, etc. (many of whose services are already wireless), haven't already figured this out. The problem there, as in many other utility-like companies, is that free thinkers often don't get to air their thoughts. Their ideas (those of the mavericks within) often get scuttled by upper management. Which all leads to the realization that there is latent desire to do this (this I know first hand) but legacy thinking in decision spaces, on the part of upper management, just keeps it contained. You've no doubt heard this song before: 'We don't do that,' is the rationale I've most often come across. Someone will.
