Absolutely, 100%, entirely right. When I started investing casually several years ago an experienced friend told me to buy and sell based on fundamental prospects, not price movements. I couldn't figure out how to tell the difference, both because I was too green and was in too many varied companies. Now that I'm in only a few, I find that I can (well, can try to, thanks to y'all and others<g>) keep close track of them, and thus gain the confidence to ignore short-term market movements based on hype, FUD, or exogenous variables. That is the single best reason for consolidation, IMO.
