Thomas - Thanks for the reply. Fusion is hot, I use it myself. After having doofed around with several other products which turned into maintenance nightmares... I may not be a completely typical developer but it seems to me that I'm hearing more noise from IBM, despite the obvious technical superiority of Sun's approach (not to mention that it's real, as opposed to the "then a miracle happens" system blocks on the IBM chart). Java caught fire mostly because of developer interest - certainly not because of its performance benefits, at least in the early days - and the ramp was a lot slower than it might have been.
