Cosmo, Low volume today in spite of the news that the GSM code has been broken and is no longer secure. It is widely believed that CDMA will never be broken. The encryption algorithm, one of several which protect the GSM air interface is in the sim card. It is my understanding that a backup algorithm, also in the sim card, can be switched into use at very short notice by the network operators. In the longer term, a completely new algorithm can be introduced by replacing the sim cards. John
