We're on the same page on Linux I think. Suitable for mom and pop, and suitable for larger systems where the app and admin model is simple.

No question that Solaris has pretty much kicked ass on the other "big Unix" vendors - but I liked SunOS better than the other variants way back when... and the ease of admin has a lot to do with that.

The original discussion was about web server share on a unit basis. The key is not unit numbers and never has been - that was what I disagreed with in Cheryl's post. Sun wins through developer mindshare and architectural dominance, not units sold...

As far as my take on Solaris scalability, if you read my post to Thomas, you will see that in fact I point to that as the real strength of the UE10000 as a magnet system.
