Two natural gas/oil plays I like:

TXCO good news today, very little liquidity but if you are willing to hold think you will be rewarded. For a small E&P this one looks pretty good to me. Like the insider buying, and good news lately.

HGT is a royalty trust but it's reserves have a 40 year life and pays a nice dividend while you wait for natural gas to increase (unless you think natural gas is going to zero). XTO spun it off and manages it.

Not really playing these for short term pops but have been adding for a longer term hold

Be interested in some opinions on these from our resident experts.

Thanks,

Rory

O/T JQP - there you go again... (VBG) Oil w/ EVER ? this is THE gas play john boy...

C'Mon.... asking about EVER's oil production is like asking how many touchdowns Ken Griffey Jr. scored last year...

Lingerfelt - Grab some bench (VBG)...

Go to their excellent web site: Learn the story, see that they have virtually the lowest "cost" of any nat gas producer, and one of the best growth rates, that they have a great market niche and that they are valued on their growth prospects - what's still in the ground more than their present production. EVER is kind of the "Ferrari" of smaller cap gas plays... and they are NOT the new kid on the block - or ANY type of a pump & dump.

PS - please be carefull with that cyphering you're doing with that spreadsheet - you're gonna hurt someone...(VBG).

evergreen-res.com

marc c remembers this from what $14ish ? I had to start to dip back in here - and will allow $2 steps on down if they want to take it back to those levels. I'll gladly add her, add at $16 and load once again at $14. I hold EVER in my longterm drawer - and allways will in the forseeable future...

EOG was my major buy today. NBL here on a break of $20. Lovin UPR here - off of a major discovery (Etouffee) - with other nearby prospects, turning around the balance sheet and cheeeeeeeeeeeeep. This baby bounced twice off of $16 AFTER - the original blowoff Oct 8th with very strong institutional buying. UPR is on EVERY single institutional/analyst buy list that I've seen - and the consistant comment on their valuation & price target; is that their estimates may be "conservative" as UPR turns production around after completing their asset sales & balance sheet restructuring... UPR could easily hit $ cfps in 2000 - near historic low multiple of 2.5 - 3 x cfps here (thats cash flow - not cubic feet JQP).

Balanced producer - like UPR #1` for my balanced play here, OEI #2.

Gas play NBL #1, EOG #2

buying a little PXD APA EVER FST XTO as well...

Waiting on UTI RIG and watching OII as well; may dip into BHI here and HAL - as these will certainly get the initial institutional mo - mo when the move starts. Man, BHI sub $20 is a no freekin brainer with $25+ crude oil ?!?! OSX has held pretty damn well in comparison to E&P's - I stay overweighted to that irrational E&P selloff unless the OSX dips sub 68ish.

Samurai Slider - livin, or dyin by the sword right here... sometimes you gotta decide when a major league opportunity is knocking - I am right here with just a tinch left for tomorrow in case we get some hinky API's tonight... don't think so however.
