Does he have family in Miami? I actually believe he should be returned to his dad. But that must violate some policy that the US has? Otoh I think we have refused entry to Cuban criminals etc. so its not unprecedented.

There was a good old movie with Rita Moreno (can't remember the male lead) called Popi. This guy lived in the Puerto Rican section of NYC... he started to see his two boys going down the wrong path in school etc. and he set them afloat in a rowboat as if they were Cuban refugees with a story he made them memorize in hopes they would be adopted by a good family in Miami. A really good movie.

Hi,
The CUBAN's in Miami have showered this boys with gifts of toys , clothes and gifts that very few in America get even in a lifetime. This must be very confusing to Elian.

I want to remind all of you that if in fact Elian was on the inner tube for two days as is claimed, then WHY wasn't he dehydrated and burnt to a crisp? When my children were young, I can remember them burning when they were only exposed an hour and I had to be very careful not to let them get too much exposure to the son.

Something is wrong with this picture.

What is happening in Florida is very simple. The families pay smugglers thousands of $$$$ to bring their loved ones to America for a better life. Free food, housing, medical through our SSI programs. They are immidiatly elegible and I would be willing to bet that Elian has already been provided for.
The smugglers bring them as close to land as they can and they are forced to swim to shore. Once they arrive on land, THEY CAN NOT BE deported. That is why they fight and threaten our Coastguard who are doing their job protecting our borders.

Elian belongs with his father. If the Cuban's in Miami would allow Americans to trade with Cuba, there would be NO need for them to come.

Did any of you know that in Miami and Hialeah, one can get a job if they only speak SPANISH, but if you ONLY speak English, it is very hard to find one. You must be Bilinguel but the Cubans do not have to be Bilinguel.

One last word,
The CUBAN's claim they left CUBA because of DICTATORSHIP, well let me tell you, That is exactly what they are doing to us. They want it their way and their way only. They DICTATE to all of us.

God Bless you all and I wish you all Happy Hollidays and I pray that Elian will celebrate Christmas with his father in Cuba.

Dorine
