Black Americans being trained for J&K `jehad' Wilson John/New Delhi More trouble and a new dimension to terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is expected with Pakistan sending Black American mercenaries to the Valley this winter, intelligence agencies have warned the Government. According to HUMINT (human intelligence or spies), Black American Muslim terrorists are undergoing training in various camps in Pakistan and Pak-occupied Kashmir(PoK). Their mission is to enter India during the Ramzan and join the "jehad" declared by the Lashkar-e-Toiba against India. Most of these young Black Americans, from San Francisco and Chicago, are fundamentalists and at present are undergoing indoctrination and arms training in Pakistan. Intelligence officials warn that these Black mercenaries would try entering India via legitimate routes -- airports and ports -- or through infiltration from the high mountain ranges surrounding the Valley. Officials said some of them, like other foreign mercenaries, before their entry into the Valley, are given special training in Afghanistan in a special camp at Kunhar, where the trainers have sophisticated training equipment like night vision devices. @ere theterrorists are trained in sophisticated weapons like rocket launchers, missile launchers and granade launchers. Officials said these heavy equipment is smuggled into India in parts over a period, before they are assembled for use. Intelligence officials have narrowed down the possible infiltration routes which the Black Americans and other militants might take in the winter months. These are: Atmukhan and Bugna in Keran sector; Humrohi and Lepa valley in Tanghdar sector and Borbugna and Choki Bal in Kupwara. The new formation of mercenaries in the Valley are divided into two Divisional Commands -- Baramullah-Kupwara and Anantnag-Doda-Pulwana -- headed by Pakistani militants. The intelligence community is worried because these Black Americans are highly motivated and vicious fighters. "They are so well indoctrinated that they would come to the Valley for "jehad" without a second thought,' an official said. The militants' target, as the trend shows, will be exclusively security personnel, camps and installations. The terrorism statistics for the last six months show that as many as 219 security personnel have been killed by militants in the Valley -- more than 36 every month -- in over 1,800 incidents of terrorism in the State. Army and intelligence officials have already wanred the Government that the militants sponsored by Pakistan and other Middle-East nations were planning to create a major uprising in the Valley in next two to three months. The brazen attack on the Badami Bagh cantonment in Srinagar was one such incident.
