Northpoint? Yes, interesting. Do you have a link? (Tried, couldn't find.)

Haven't quite figured out some of the final DSL mechanics. The recent court decision allowing non-monopolists to use the last mile doesn't really bite for another 5 mos, I think. Even then, aren't the CLAPs (CLEPs?) still dependent on the monopolist to enable DSL technology? I was hoping that at some point the CLAP/CLEP could rollout DSL ahead of the baby bells monopoly-retreat pace. (My understanding is the last mile monopolists are collecting abusive rents on ISDN, T1, T3 and Frame Relay. The premiums on these will largely disappear with the availability of DSL.) Go DSL!

Sympatico question...

In my area, in Canada, Bell Telephone offers a high-speed internet connection over your existing phone line called Sympatico. You get a modem which talks to your NIC. It costa about U$10 a month.

Does anyone know what this service is? Is it xDSL? All I get at the phone centres is a demonstration and some bafflegab from a sales person who obviously knows less than I do. (Damn little)

Thanks in advance, PW.
